Weather was a factor this past week at harness tracks on both coasts.  Snow caused cancellations at Yonkers Raceway on Monday (12/2) and heavy rain forced races four through twelve to be cancelled on Saturday (12/7) at Cal-Expo.

On Tuesday (12/3) CR Blaze started from post position four in race eleven at The Meadows.  Getting away second, CR Blaze (Brady Brown) made her way to the lead at the half by a head over Vodka Soda (Dan Rawlings).  Sitting third at the top of the stretch, CR Blaze trotted a last quarter in 30.3 to place second, her mile in 1:59.2.

It was “Winner Wednesday” (12/4) for Iowa grads.  Starting at Harrah’s Philadelphia, SVF Cash Deposit took to the track in race seven.  With Tim Tetrick in the bike, SVF Cash Deposit trotted out to third.  Making his move, Tetrick pulled at the half and put the field away.  Crossing the line in 1:56.4, last quarter in 30.4, SVF Cash Deposit returned victorious to the winner’s circle for owner Elvin Zimmerman.

Over at The Meadows, two Iowa grads picked up wins.  In race two, Depth Charge (Jim Pantaleano) started from the back of the pack, sitting seventh until the half.  Pulling as they came to the three quarter pole, Depth Charge made his way up to fifth at the top of the lane.  Charging to the line, Depth Charge put a nose in front, trotting for the win in 2:03.2.

Later in the card, DP Rocket (Brady Brown) dominated race twelve,  The seven hole was not a factor as DP Rocket blasted out of the gate to take the lead.  Cutting the mile in 30.1, 1:00.3, 1:29.4, DP Rocket put in a last quarter of 29.4 to trot home in 1:59.3, winning by three lengths.

Oh Toodles put in a hard fought effort at Saratoga Harness also on Wednesday.  With an unlucky draw of the eight hole, Oh Toodles (Jay Randall) got parked third to the quarter.  Battling Brad’s Buddy (Frank Coppla Jr) from the three quarter pole, Oh Toodles placed second by a head in 1:56.1 for owner Debbie Philipp.

At Harrah’s Philadelphia on Thursday (12/5), Always B Hanny showed heart in race three.  As the gate folded, Always B Hanny (Anthony Morgan) was parked to the quarter.  Taking over the lead at the half, Always B Hanny was right there at the wire, with the first three horses only a head apart.  Finishing third, Always B Hanny put in a good mile in 1:55.3, last quarter 29.4.

Friday (12/6) was a busy day for Iowa grads.  Pond Jumper put in a strong endeavor in race two at The Meadows.  Sitting fifth the majority of the mile, Pond Jumper (Brady Brown) trotted his last quarter in 30.0 to hit the board for third, his mile in 1:58.1.

My Money Honey drew the five hole in race eleven.  Getting a pocket trip behind Livinonthebeach (Ronnie Wrenn Jr), My Money Honey (Mike Wilder) sat patiently until the stretch, putting in a blistering mile for the win, mile in 1:54.0, last quarter 28.1.

Over at Batavia Downs, the Open II Trot featured CR Blazin Beauty.  Leaving from the rail, CR Blazin Beauty (John Cummings Jr) also benefited from a perfect trip behind Nobel Legend (Billy Davis Jr).  Trotting for the win, CR Blazin Beauty crossed the line in 1:57.3, last quarter 29.1.

To top off the night, Pretty Boy Swag (Jason Bartlett) picked up a third place check in race three at Yonkers Raceway, pacing his mile in 1:54.4.  And Zachariah’s Honor put in a nice mile in race seven at Cal-Expo.  Ninth at the half, Zachariah’s Honor (Nick Roland) charged late, pacing his mile in 1:59.0 for a third place finish.

To wrap up the week, Marced Magic (James Kennedy) picked up the win in race three at Cal-Expo on Saturday (12/7).  Second at the quarter pole, Marced Magic pulled in front and didn’t look back.  With a last quarter of 31.2 in a sloppy track, Marced Magic took the win in 2:00.1.  The rest of the card was cancelled due to poor track conditions.
