Two-year-old trotters remain perfect at Oskaloosa

Two Iowa freshmen looked to maintain a perfect season at Oskaloosa during the weekend event. Iowa Sired horses were featured on Saturday (7/27) with Wind Witch competing in race seven for two-year-old trotting fillies.
Drawing the six-hole, Wind Witch, two-year-old filly by Southwind Cobra, took the track with a five-race win streak on the line. Trained and driven by Adam Hauser, Wind Witch trotted up to take the pocket position behind Lady Cobra (Jim Reese) as the gate folded. Sitting nicely behind the leader, Wind Witch waited until past the half to make a move. Quickly taking command, Wind Witch led the field to the three quarters, up by three lengths.
Rounding the final turn, Wind Witch had wind beneath her wings as she spied the finish line. Trotting her last quarter in 29.3, it was all Wind Witch as she crossed the wire. Winning in 2:08.2, Wind Witch conjured up her sixth win in six starts, remaining perfect in her racing career.
On Sunday (7/28), another two-year-old trotter also looked to keep his winning streak alive. Bro Oak, trained by Curtis Carey and driven by Will Roland, had the three-hole in race six for two-year-old trotters. Sprinting out for the lead, Bro Oak quickly took the lead, trotting to the quarter in 31.4. Still up at the half in 1:03.4, Bro Oak held off challenger Bluebird Shiela (Chad Svendsen) as they raced toward the three-quarter-pole.
Looking to open up his lead, Bro Oak passed the three-quarters in 1:34.2. Finding more gas in the tank, Bro Oak trotted down the stretch with no competition in sight. Trotting home in 2:05.4, it was all Bro Oak for the victory, picking up his fifth win, remaining perfect in five starts.
Iowa harness racing resumes for a weekend of Iowa-Registered racing at Humboldt, Saturday (8/3) and Sunday (8/4). Post time for both days is scheduled for 12:30pm CST.
