As racing geared up for Monday (1/20), Selma O’Brien had a rough trip in race six at The Meadows.  Leaving the gate from the middle of the pack, Selma O’Brien (Dave Palone) drifted into seventh.  Coming to the half, Selma O’Brien was eighth in line on the outside.  Still seventh at the three-quarter pole, Selma O’Brien made a brush down the lane to finish second, her mile in 1:57.2.

Monday evening at Yonkers Raceway, Oh Toodles, with the rail in race ten, fought to take the lead as the gate folded.  Parked to the quarter in 28.1, Oh Toodles (Eric Goodell) managed to secure the rail at the half in 58.1.  Leading the field to the three-quarter pole in 1:27.0, Oh Toodles relinquished his lead to Better Up (Jason Bartlett) as they turned for home.  Crossing the wire third, Oh Toodles paced his mile in 1:56.0, for owner Debbie Philipp.

The race of the week belongs to Jackpot Jessie on Tuesday (1/21) at The Meadows.  With the unfortunate draw of the eight hole in race six, Jackpot Jessie (Jerry Kehm) could see them all as they approached the quarter.  Still sitting tenth at the half, Kehm decided to make his move.  Double parked at the three quarters, Jackpot Jessie found another gear.  As they rounded the last turn, Jackpot Jessie went from fifth to first.  Pacing her last quarter in 29.1, Jackpot Jessie picked up the win, mile in 1:58.2.

In race nine, it was all DP Rocket.  Sprinting away from the four hole, DP Rocket (Brady Brown) was parked for the lead by Vodka Soda (Dan Rawlings).  Cutting the fractions in 28.2, 59.0 1:27.4, DP Rocket held off all challengers to win by a head in 1:56.4.

On Friday (1/24), Iowa horses lit up the board at Cal-Expo.  Race four had Zachariah’s Honor (John Roberts) wearing the red saddle pad.  As the race started, Zachariah’s Honor sat third until the stretch.  With a blistering last quarter in 26.4, Zachariah’s Honor stepped up for second, pacing his mile in 1:55.2.

Fred And Roz didn’t waste any time pushing the gate out of his way in race ten.  Parked to the quarter in 28.0, Fred And Roz (Lemoyne Svendsen) crossed over to lead the field to the half in 56.2.  Still leading at the three-quarter pole in 1:24.4, Fred And Roz was beaten by a head to place third, mile in 1:54.0 for owners Keevyn Kilburg, Joseph Kilburg, Stephanie Gould and Mark Mintun.

In race twelve, Lakota Law (Luke Plano) drew the rail, Queen Of Marcs (James Kennedy) the two hole and Diamonds Are Trump (Nick Roland) the three hole.  Roland asked and Diamonds Are Trump responded to take the lead.  Cutting the mile in 28.2, 59.0 and 1:28.3, Diamonds Are Trump lead to the top of the stretch.  Lakota Law, with the pocket trip, pulled out to take over.  Pacing a last quarter in 27.1, Lakota Law got up for the win, in 1:56.1.  Queen Of Marcs tracked the leaders to finish third, her mile in 1:56.3.  Diamonds Are Trump picked up a fourth place check, mile in 1:56.4.
