Graduate Report 3-7-22 to 3-13-22

Starting the week off for Iowa graduates, it was RD Skippy in the eleventh race at Northfield Park on Tuesday (3/8).  With Aaron Merriman in the bike and drawing the rail, RD Skippy charged from the gate to take full command of the race. Setting the pace in 27.1, 55.3 and 1:24.4, RD Skippy led the field by almost a length as they turned for home.  Holding off all challengers, RD Skippy crossed the finish line in 1:54.4 to pick up the win.

 

In the next race, What Ya Thinkin also had Aaron Merriman as the driver, but drew the two-hole.  Getting away second, What Ya Thinkin parked Major Ace (Ronnie Wrenn Jr) to the quarter.  Taking over the lead, What Ya Thinkin paced to the half in 57.1 and the three-quarters in 1:25 flat.  With more left in the tank, What Ya Thinkin was thinking about a win as he crossed the wire, pacing in 1:53.4, last quarter in 28.4.

 

Race ten at Pompano Park, SVF Cash Deposit (Andy Santeramo) drew post position three.  As the gate folded, SVF Cash Deposit trotted into fifth at the quarter.  Still fifth as they raced past the half, SVF Cash Deposit pulled to the outside, third at the three-quarter pole.  As they raced down the stretch, SVF Cash Deposit trotted a last quarter in 28.2 to finish second, his mile in 1:55.4.

 

Wednesday (3/9) at The Meadows, Heavy Handed Hanna (Ridge Warren) had the seven-hole in race three.  Sixth at the quarter, six at the half, Heavy Handed Hanna drew to the outside, trying to find racing room.  Charging from sixth at the three-quarters, Heavy Handed Hanna was second by two lengths at the top of the stretch.  Finishing second by a length, Heavy Handed Hanna paced her mile in 1:56.4, charting the fastest last quarter of the race in 28.4.

 

Over at Yonkers Raceway, Cyclone Maximus (Yannick Gingras) had the rail in race six.  Getting away third, Cyclone Maximus tracked the field until they trotted around the last turn.  WIth a last quarter in 30.3, Cyclone Maximus went from fourth at the top of the lane, to grabbing a close second by a neck, race time in 1:58.3.

 

Brooklyn Windup (Luke Plano) had the six-hole in race three at Cal Expo on Friday (3/11).  Drifting out sixth, Brooklyn Windup waited until the half to make a move.  Parked fourth as they passed the three-quarters, Brooklyn Windup made up ground, second by only a head as they rounded the last turn.  In a dash for the line, Brooklyn Windup hit the wire in 1:57.2 for the win by over a length.

 

In race four, May Day Maggie (Nick Roland) had the rail.  As the race started, May Day Maggie looked to race in the pocket, but was shuffled back to third at the half.  Unable to gain position, May Day Maggie hit the board for show, her mile in 1:56 flat.

 

The seventh race saw Frisky Pedro (Luke Plano) charging from the four-hole, leading the field to the quarter in 28.4.  Still up at the half in 58 flat, Frisky Pedro led them to the three-quarters in 1:27.0.   As they raced down the lane, Frisky Pedro was not able to hold off the challenger, but managed to hold on for third, his mile in 1:55.2.

 

At The Meadows, Legal Liar (Aaron Merriman) took to the track in race four.  Getting away third from the four-hole, Legal Liar tracked third until the half.  Parked fourth at the three-quarters, Legal Liar waited until the lane to make his move.  With a last quarter in 27.4, Legal Liar captured second, his time in 1:55.4 for owner Gary Liles.

 

My Money Honey (Kyle Cummings) competed on Saturday (3/12) at Buffalo Raceway, drawing the four-hole in race nine.  Fourth at the quarter, My Money Honey pulled to find himself parked, behind cover, past the three-quarter pole.  Able to shake loose, My Money Honey made up lengths in the stretch to place second, his mile in 2:02.2.

 

On to Sunday (3/13), Shesurissomething (Cordarius Stewart) had broken equipment after the start in race two, the Fillies & Mares Open II.  Sitting fifth until past the half, Shesureissomething pulled behind More More More (Nick Roland) to move up into fourth.  As horses turned for home, Shesureissomething paced her last quarter in 27.3 to pick up a third place check for owners Alan and Cheryl Sandbulte.

 

In race eleven, Cal’s Hope (James Lackey) raced from the four-hole.  Fifth at the quarter, Cal’s Hope was shuffled back to seventh as they reached the stretch.  Picking off competitors down the lane, Cal’s Hope paced home in 29 flat for a third place finish, mile in 1:56.3.

 

At Miami Valley Raceway, Freddie Faves (Jeremy Smith) had the eight-hole in race ten.  With a rough trip, Freddie Faves was parked eight at the half.  Still parked sixth as they raced to the three-quarters, Freddie Faves was impeded at the top of the stretch.  Despite the traffic, Freddie Faves managed to find racing room and hit the wire for third, his mile in 1:53.2
