Iowa Horses Race Big

It was a big week for Iowa graduates as CR Blaze started with a win at The Meadows on Tuesday (2/4).  Drawing the three hole in race four, CR Blaze (Brady Brown) quickly left to settle into second behind Vodka Soda (Dan Rawlings).  Getting the perfect trip, CR Blaze trotted down the stretch in 29.4 for the win in 1:57.4.

Jackpot Jessie took to the track in race ten.  Sprinting out to the lead from the five hole, Jackpot Jessie (Jerry Kehm) paced a first quarter in 27.4.  Letting Rainy Day May (Dave Palone) take over, Jackpot Jessie sat second until the final turn.  With a last quarter in 29.4, Jackpot Jessie held on for third, pacing her mile in 1:57.0.

On Wednesday (2/5), two Iowa horses drew into race eleven at The Meadows, Al-Mar Humdinger with the two hole and All Taylor Made in the six.  As the gate folded, All Taylor Made (Jim Pantaleano) made the front in 29.1, with Al-Mar Humdinger (Brady Brown) tracking in fourth.  Still leading at the half, All Taylor Made took the field to the stretch, battling Victory Bells (Wilbur Yoder) to the wire.  Beaten by a neck, All Taylor Made paced her mile in 1:59.0 to place second.  Al-Mar Humdinger had a tougher trip, getting double parked at the three quarter pole, but showed heart to pick up third, mile in 1:59.0, beaten by a head.

Always B Hanny drew the five hole in race twelve.  Cutting the mile in 27.1, 56.4, 1:25.3, Always B Hanny (Jim Pantaleano) was beaten by a length to finish second, her mile in 1:55.2.

Thursday (2/6) night at Yonkers Raceway, Juxta Cowgirl had a rough trip around the track.  Sitting parked second until the three quarter pole, Juxta Cowgirl (Joe Bongiorno) finally got up to take over at the top of the stretch.  Getting beaten by a head by I Wish You Well (Pat Lachance), Juxta Cowgirl finished second, her mile in 1:56.3.

Iowa horses lit up the tote boards on multiple tracks on Friday (2/7).  Starting at The Meadows, Oh Toodles had Tony Hall in the bike.  With a tough draw, Oh Toodles fired from the eight hole to take command, quarter in 28.0.  Bicorne Hanover (Dave Palone) took over and Oh Toodles sat in his back as they went around the track.  Crossing the wire in 1:54.4, Oh Toodles finished second, last quarter in 28.1.

Snobbytown continued her winning ways at Yonkers Raceway in race two.  Per form, Snobbytown (George Brennan) had the rail and took command of the race when the starter said go.  Even being parked first to the quarter in 27.2, Snobbytown cut all the fractions, half in 57.3, three quarters in 1:26.1.  With the race in hand, Snobbytown crossed the wire for the win in 1:55.1, last quarter in 29.0.

On the west coast, Cal-Expo was alive with Iowa winners.  Starting off the night in race two, Red N Hotallover (Nick Roland) got away third from the rail.  Letting Queen Of Marcs (James Kennedy) battle Crookshanks (Luke Plano), Red N Hotallover took over down the lane, picking up the win in 1:56.4 by a head for owner Edmund Krapp.  Queen of Marcs was right there with the pack, holding on for third, her mile in 1:57.1.

The second win for Iowa horses on the card came in race eight.  With having to leave from the nine hole, Marced Magic (Dean Magee) broke away from the field nicely to sit fourth.  Not wanting to be covered up, Magee pulled Marced Magic to the outside, parked at the half.  Still parked at the three quarters, Marced Magic put a head in front as they rounded the last turn.  Battling Coz And Effect (James Kennedy) down the lane, Marced Magic poured it on as they drew to the finish line.  Returning to the winner’s circle victorious, Marced Magic paced his mile in 1:53.1, winning by a neck.

In the next race, it was all Fred And Roz and Marc Mellow Man.  As Fred And Roz (Lemoyne Svendsen) brushed out to take the lead in race nine, Marc Mellow Man (John Roberts) quickly followed suit, looking to sit second.  As Fred And Roz led the rest around the track in 27.3, 57.2, 1:26.1, Marc Mellow Man sat in his back, waiting for the stretch.  As the two Iowa horses, turned for home, they were neck and neck. Fred And Roz crossed the wire to picked up the win, by a head, in 1:55.1 for owners Keevyn Kilburg, Joseph Kilburg, Stephanie Gould and Mark Mintun.  Marc Mellow Man paced his last quarter in 28.4 to secure second place, his mile also in 1:55.1.

Lynn Bin Con Kin hit the board at Northfield Park on Saturday (2/8).  As Lynn Bin Con Kin (David Lake) left the gate from the four hole in race one, she didn’t see the rail the entire trip.  Parked fourth at the quarter, she worked her way up to sitting parked second at the half.  Holding position, Lynn Bin Con Kin held on to second as she crossed the line, pacing her mile in 2:02.0, beaten by only a length.

At Cal-Expo, Lakota Law put in a good effort in race one.  With a short field, Lakota Law (Braxten Boyd) let the field go, as she tracked from fourth.  Not making a move until the stretch, Lakota Law finished third, her mile in 1:57.1, last quarter in 27.3.

Diamonds Are Trump was up next in race two.  With the five hole, Nick Roland and Diamonds Are Trump settled into fifth as the race started.  Roland pulled past the half, making his move on the field.  Gaining ground, Diamonds Are Trump was third as they hit the top of the stretch.  With a last quarter in 26.4, Diamonds Are Trumped trumped the rest to cross the wire first, her mile in 1:56.2.

Bertha Vanation had traffic trouble in race six.  Being out-sprinted at the start, Bertha Vanation (Nick Roland) got away fifth from the rail.  Trying to get into the race, Bertha Vanation was parked fifth at the half, three quarters, looking for racing room as they rounded the last turn.  Pacing her mile in 1:55.2, Bertha Vanation managed to pick up third, her last quarter in 27.4.
