Iowa graduates hit the board this week, either a winner or picking up third place.  Tuesday (1/28) at The Meadows, CR Blaze (Brady Brown) quickly left from the five hole to take the lead in race eight.  Still guarding the rail, CR Blaze had Ridinonarainbow (Aaron Merriman) parked at the half.  Pushed back to fourth as they turned for home, CR Blaze trotted a last quarter in 30.3, to finish third by a head, her mile in 1:59.0.

Later that evening at Yonkers Raceway, CR Blazin Beauty had post position four in race seven.  Falling in line with the pack, CR Blazin Beauty (Jason Bartlett) sat fifth, parked half of the mile until the top of the stretch.  Trotting a last quarter in 30.0, CR Blazin Beauty crossed the wire in 1:58.0 to place third.

Juxta Cowgirl (Joe Bongiorno) put in a good effort on Thursday (1/30) at Yonkers Raceway.  Leaving from the six hole in race five, Bongiorno pushed Juxta Cowgirl out of the gate to get the pocket trip behind Berazzled (Daniel Dube).  As the pair led the field around the track, it was looking like they were setting up to finish one-two.  Rounding the last turn, Amarettigone (George Brennan) came flying out of nowhere to capture the win by a nose.  Juxta Cowgirl paced a solid last quarter of 29.3 to a third place finish, her mile in 1:56.0.

Iowa graduates first win of the week came on Friday (1/31) at Yonkers.  With George Brennan in the bike, Snobbytown sprinted out of the five hole to take command in race five.  Cutting the mile in 27.3, 57.0, 1:24.3 and a last quarter in 28.0, it was all Snobbytown as she paced towards the finish line.  Winning by four lengths, Snobbytown takes the mile in 1:52.3.

Another win for Iowa horses happened in race seven at Cal-Expo.  Having the rail didn’t seem to be an advantage for Diamonds Are Trump (Nick Roland).  Getting away fourth at the quarter, fourth at the half, Diamonds Are Trump was covered up, sitting sixth from the three-quarters on.  As they sprinted towards home, Diamonds Are Trump kicked into high gear.  With a last quarter in 28.2, Diamonds Are Trump stuck her nose out for the win, pacing in 1:55.3.

In race nine, Fred And Roz grabbed the lead as the gate folded.  Setting the pace, Fred And Roz (Lemoyne Svendsen) set the pace in 27.4, 56.4 and 1:25.2.  Relinquishing his lead at the top of the stretch, Fred And Roz paced his last quarter in 29.2 to pick up third place.  Beaten only by two lengths, Fred And Roz paced his mile in 1:54.4 for owners Keevyn Kilburg, Joseph Kilburg, Stephanie Gould and Mark Mintun.

As February rolled in on Saturday (2/1), Minnie Vinnie was not shown any love by the race office when he drew the seven hole in race ten at Miami Valley Raceway.  Undaunted by the post position, John DeLong drove Minnie Vinnie out of the gate to sit third on the rail.  Stalking the leaders, Minnie Vinnie started to make his move as they raced past the three-quarter pole.  Second behind Rock Solid Image (Trace Tetrick) at the top of the lane, Minnie Vinnie battled towards home.  Crossing the wire, Minnie Vinnie picked up the win in 1:54.1, last quarter in 29.1 for owners Jesse DeLong, Thomas Carey and Rick Huffman.

At Cal-Expo, My Muddy Buddy showed speed in race two.  Getting a pocket trip behind eventual winner Platinum Time (Steve Wiseman), My Muddy Buddy (John Roberts) tracked the leader as they came around the final turn.  Pacing home in 28.3, My Muddy Buddy held on for third, his mile in 1:54.3.

In race three, Flash Me Baby also picked up a third place check.  With Nick Roland holding the lines, Flash Me Baby went from sixth at the half to take the lead, as they turned for home.  Holding on for third, Flash Me Baby paced her mile in 1:55.2, last quarter in 28.4 for owners Rick Huffman and Larry Mather.
