‘‘Twas the week before Christmas, when Iowa grads could be heard,
Lighting up the tote boards, first, second and third.

Monday (12/16) at Yonkers, two horses drew in;
Frisky Pedro in race three, Snobbytown, race ten.

With George Brennan in the bike, as the starter said go,
Off to the lead, went Frisky Pedro.
Cutting the mile to the top of the stretch,
Frisky Pedro paced in 1:55.2, finishing third by a neck.

It was George Brennan again, when Snobbytown took the track,
Also cutting the mile, she never looked back.
Wire to wire, in 1:53.1,
Snobbytown back in the winner’s circle, when the race was done.

On Tuesday (12/17) in The Meadow’s last race,
From post position five, started CR Blaze.
Getting away second, at the quarter pole,
Driver Brady Brown urged CR Blaze to get up and go.
Sitting parked with the lead, just at the half,
CR Blaze charged on, leading the last lap.
Winning in 1:59.1, by a head over the rest,
CR Blaze showed that she was the best.

The following day (12/18), at The Meadows, race two,
It was Al-Mar Humdinger, the three hole he drew.
Brady Brown sat patiently, guiding his drive,
Sitting third ‘til the stretch, gaining with each stride.
Finishing the race second, his mile in 1:59.0,
Al-Mar Humdinger continues to shine.

Cal-Expo was dark, no news from the west,
Iowa graduates getting a well-deserved rest.

As we put down the pen, ending this prose,
Horses from Iowa, racing nose to nose;
IaHHA, proud of their birthright,
Wishes Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
