With a full card of fourteen races on Sunday (8/11) at Humboldt, the mare division of Aged Iowa-Registered 3-Years and Older Pace brought the crowd to their feet.  A field of five competed in race nine, Red N Hotallover (Chad Svendsen) had the rail, Omadome (Clayton Miller) the two-hole, Wavzeka (Adam Hauser), the three-hole, Lil Char (James Gould) the four-hole and on the outside Jennie Ann (Rob Anderson).

As the gate folded, Red N Hotallover charged out to take the lead, with Wavzeka dropping into second, Lil Char third, Jennie Ann up to take fourth and Omodome in fifth. Racing towards the half, Lil Char pulled to the outside with Jennie Ann tracking on her back.  Doubled up, Red N Hotallover and Lil Char led the field around the backstretch.

Finding another gear, Lil Char charged up to take the lead as they raced past the three-quarter, with Jennie Ann in the pocket.  Turning for home, it was a free-for-all as the mares paced down the stretch.  Finding room on the outside, Wavzeka flew toward the leaders, with the crowd cheering on their favorites.

Approaching the wire, Lil Char, Jennie Ann and Wavzeka crossed the line together.  When the photo was announced, Lil Char and Wavzeka were declared winners in a dead heat, pacing in 2:00.4, with Jennie Ann third by a nose.

Iowa harness racing resumes for a two-day event at What Cheer, Saturday (8/17) and Sunday (8/18).  Post time for both days is scheduled for 12:30pm CST.
