WHAT CHEER, IOWA (June 29, 2024) – The season’s first division of Iowa Sired racing was held at What Cheer on Saturday (7/29), with two and three-year olds competing in an eleven race card.
Wind Witch, sired by South Wind Cobra, has been perfect so far in her debut season as a freshman. Trained and driven by Adam Hauser, Wind Witch was looking for her third win in race five. Driving up from the three-hole, Wind Witch grabbed the lead. Cutting the mile in 33.2, 107.1 and 1:38.3, Wind Witch was trotting on air as she turned for home. With nobody else in sight, Wind Witch didn’t need any magic to capture the victory, trotting in 2:11.4, winning by over forty lengths.
In race six, See Sea Cece drew the two-hole for driver/trainer Duane Roland. The two-year-old pacing filly by Mac’s Power was sent to the lead and she didn’t disappoint. Setting the pace in 31.1, 1:02.1 and 1:32.3, See Sea Cece was looking to see if her competition could keep up. Rounding the final turn, up by four lengths, See Sea Cece had her sights on the prize. With a last quarter in 31.1, See Sea Cece looked grand as she picked up the win in a new lifetime mark of 2:03.4.
Marced Fox, by Marced Card, competed for the Roland stable in race eight. Making her second start as a sophomore, Marced Fox (Duane Roland) dropped into the pocket behind Marced Rain (Cory Larson). Letting Marced Rain do the work, Marced Fox craftily waited until the stretch to make a move. In an all our battle between the Marced Card fillies, Marced Fox sprinted to the wire in 28.4. With the mile in 2:03.1, Marced Fox not only got the win, but also paced to a new lifetime mark.
Race nine featured three-year-old trotting colts and geldings. As they lined up behind the gate, Lukas Hall sired, Cattlelac Luke (Chad Svendsen) trotted up into third position. With a charge, Cattlelac Luke grabbed the lead. Trotting the quarters in 33.0, 1:05.2 and 1:36.1, Cattlelac Luke was cruising towards the final turn. In full gear, Cattlelac Luke trotted home for the win. With the mile in 2:06 flat, Cattlelac Luke maintained his perfect season with three wins in a row.
