2YO pacers & 3YO trotters battle at What Cheer

Always Be Hanny, a 2-year-old Always a Virgin filly, has a fantastic racing
debut winning the first division of 2-year-old pacing fillies in 2:03.1

 

What Cheer, IA (July 14, 2018) – Four fields of 2-year-old pacers and three fields of 3-year-old trotters competed in Iowa-Registered feature races to lead the ten race card on the second day of racing at the Keokuk County Fair.

 

First time starter Always Be Hanny made her racing debut in the first division of 2-year-old pacing fillies. Driver Adam Hauser settled the Indiana bred Always a Virgin filly in second off the gate. After some shuffling, Hauser was parked in third at the three-quarters and took over the field in a stretch run finishing in 2:03.1. Always Be Hanny is trained by Justin Anfinson and owned by Todd Banks.

 

Snobbytown continued her winning streak taking the second division of 2-year-old pacing fillies in a wire-to-wire 2:03 performance with John Saner in the bike. From the first crop of Ohio’s Nob Hill High, Snobbytown is owned by Saner and Lesa Peters. With this win Snobbytown remains the top filly, undefeated in the Iowa-Registered standings.

 

My Money Honey won the first division of 2-year-old pacing colts. Rob Anderson piloted the Iowa-sired Sneaky B Skipalong gelding, leading the field from start to finish in 2:03.4. My Money Honey is owned by Kayveonna Johnson and Rick Huffman.

 

The fastest mile of the ten race card went to Tappin Outamessage in the second division of 2-year-old pacing colts. Coming off a 2:04.4 win at Donnellson on July 11, the Ohio bred Western Vintage gelding dropped his personal best to 2:01 pacing a last half in :58. Will Roland trains and drives Tappin Outamessage for owner Gretchen Springer.

 

The two divisions of 3-year-old trotting fillies were won by the 2017 champion and runner-up fillies, both by Lou’s Legacy. Princess Legacy took the first division wire-to-wire in 2:04.4 with Adam Hauser in the bike for owners Carol and Tyson Paris. It was her first win in 2018. In another wire-to-wire performance 2017 Champion Ima Juggernaut won the second division in 2:03.1 remaining perfect in the 2018 Iowa-Registered standings. Ima Juggernaut is trained and driven by Mark Mintun, and owned by Mintun and Stephanie Gould.

 

Two scratches left the feature 3-year-old trot with six competitors. Top colts Scramble Camp and Hotrod Richard battled early and often with the American Native gelding Hotrod Richard and driver Rob Anderson leading most of the race. Dan Roland and Scramble Camp were lapped on Hotrod Richard as the two passed the three-quarters in 1:32 leading the rest of the field by nine lengths. Scramble Camp surged around the final turn to take the lead and held off Hotrod Richard in the stretch finishing the mile in 2:02.2. The Iowa-sired Weight Lifter gelding is trained by Roland and owned by Jeri Roland, Bob Davis, and CD Huffman.

 

Iowa racing action resumes tomorrow with featured 3-year-old pacers leading the nine race card. Post time is 12:30.
