Snobbytown started the week for Iowa graduates with a win for Burke Racing Stable on Monday (10/28). Race eight at Yonkers Raceway was dominated by the Nob Hill High filly. As Snobbytown (George Brennan) left from post position four, a battle for the lead ensued. Keeping Money Shot Hanover (Joe Bongiorno) parked to the half, Snobbytown sprinted to the finish line, pacing 1:53.0 with a 28.3 last quarter.
In another gate to wire performance, Pretty Boy Swag picked up the win at Monticello Raceway on Tuesday (10/29). Driver Cory Stratton wasted no time as the gate folded, putting Pretty Boy Swag on top from post position seven. Setting the fractions 27.4. 57.0, 1:25.3 and the last quarter 27.4, Pretty Boy Swag paced the mile in 1:53.2, keeping his winning streak alive.
Meanwhile in Pennsylvania, My Money Honey put in a winning performance in race one at The Meadows on Wednesday (10/30). Getting away fourth from the rail, My Money Honey (Mike Wilder) pulled past the quarter to challenge Primo Capitano (Dan Rawlings). Parked past the half, My Money Honey got the lead by a head, holding on for the win. My Money Honey captured the mile in 1:54.1, last quarter in 28.4, back to back wins for owners Rags to Riches of PA stable.
Juxta Cowgirl and CR Blazin Beauty raced well over the weekend. On Friday (11/1) at Yonkers Raceway, Juxta Cowgirl (Joe Bongiorno) took third in race seven, pacing her mile in 1:55.1. Cr Blazin Beauty (John Macdonald) also raced third at Vernon Downs on Saturday (11/2), trotting home in 1:56.0.
But the highlight of the week belongs to CR Blaze, racing at The Meadows on Saturday (11/2). As legendary track announcer Roger Huston prepared to call his last race at The Meadows, CR Blaze lined up in post position two for race twelve. The 2019 Iowa Registered Three-Year-Old season leader left the gate and settled into third. Driver Brady Brown pulled CR Blaze past the half, going nose to nose with Key Lime Pie (Jeremy Indof). Down the stretch, CR Blaze took charge, trotting across the wire in 1:58.0, as Roger Huston called her the winner.
Iowa Harness Horsemen will miss Roger Huston behind the mic, sending him best wishes on his retirement and good luck in all his future endeavors.
