Hopes and dreams
Start as foals and yearlings
Before the racing season
Teaching harness to yearlings

Long hours in training
Jogging miles that are put in
New two-year-olds learning
Three-year-olds getting trim

Eyes on the news
Events are uncertain
Horsemen continue working
Wishing conditions not to worsen

Our fans are ready
To see familiar faces
Trainers and drivers they love
Watching Facebook live races

Our schedule is long
Racing the Iowa fair circuit
Some may be cancelled
Making all other starts worth it

Keep all in your prayers
As we fight by staying in place
But when the starter says go
